IT leadership researcher, consultant and coach, active in CIO career development since 2001, working closely with FTSE CIOs and their executive teams. Have delivered more than 1500 hrs of IT executive coaching and lead a team working with 300 IT executives in an international continuing professional development programme. Research into CIO effectiveness allowed me to develop the CIO role-types model (Professional, Paratroopers, etc) published in 2006. I have authored two other published research papers, on expanding the CIO mandate (CIO Plus) and the impact of consumer technology on organisational resourcefulness. I remain a research associate of the Leading Edge Forum. My company, CIO Development founded in 2005, partners with Boston University to offer the acclaimed "CIO Pocket MBA" course in Europe and a flourishing IT professional development programme. We have over 400 alumni, forming a powerful bridge to next generation thinking and leadership. In 2009 I was appointed a research fellow of the Boston University Institute for Global Work, leading the European programme in shared services innovation and thinking about the impact of technology in the changing global economy. Specialties: the changing roles of the CIO and corporate IT in the age of the customer, breakthrough career coaching and the impact of digital business.
